Brake Disc / Rotor
Detail Specifications / Descriptions
WP pro Brake Discs are manufactured from high quality cast iron. After casing the discs undergo a carefully controlled heat treatment process, this will ensure there strength, resistance to distortion also cracking.
Depending on the Brake Kit supplied;
the disc will either be a one-piece, complete with the centre hub, or a two-piece, with a bolted aluminium centre bell. All discs now have curved centre vanes for extra cooling. They are also cross-drilled and grooved to allow the gasses to escape and deglaze the brake pads.
Unlike most manufactures WP pro Discs are supplied in pairs, left and right, attention must be paid to the direction of rotation. The slots on the disc-face must be to Front in the direction of rotation, the centre cooling vanes to the Rear. To assist with installation the one-piece discs have an arrow on the hub face.
Before leaving the factory every disc is machine faced and measured for minimal run-out (0. 2mm maximum). When installing it is important to check the condition of the hub bearings also that the hub face is clean and free of dust. Disc run-out will produce pad knock-off reducing the brake efficiency and also cause steering vibration.
Normally supplied in a gold zinc coated finish, the one-piece disc can be ordered with a red or blue finish.
