The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) showcased its presence at FerretExpo 2024 for, organizing the Taiwan Pavilion with the participation of 20 Taiwanese enterprises. The pavilion, themed around the prestigious Taiwan Excellence Award, featured an array of home furnishings, hardware, and accessories, highlighting the innovation and quality of Taiwanese products.

Supported by Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the event’s opening ceremony on November 7 was graced by Chun-fei Chang, Taiwan's Ambassador to Guatemala, alongside officials from Guatemala’s Ministry of Economy. In his remarks, Ambassador Chang highlighted the significant growth in bilateral trade following the signing of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Taiwan and Guatemala in 2006. The agreement has not only bolstered economic ties but also fostered closer diplomatic relations between the two nations.

As Central America’s premier B2B event for building materials, hardware, and hand tools, FerretExpo marked its 23rd year with robust participation. The Taiwan Pavilion stood out as the only national pavilion, competing with exhibitors from India, China, and other regions. This year’s event hosted 114 exhibitors and attracted over 8,000 professional buyers from Guatemala and neighboring countries. According to the event organizers, the exhibition generated an estimated $18 million USD in immediate orders, with significant potential for future business opportunities.

TAITRA emphasized that since the implementation of the Taiwan-Guatemala FTA on July 1, 2006, bilateral trade has experienced consistent growth. By participating in FerretExpo, Taiwan not only strengthens its economic presence in Guatemala but also fosters new business opportunities for its industries. This initiative underlines a commitment to mutual benefit, reinforcing a collaborative relationship between the two nations while expanding Taiwan’s footprint in the Guatemalan market.
