AIIA Alliance Inauguration Ceremony & the 50th TAITRONICS Celebration Luncheon

The 2024 Taipei International Electronics Show (TAITRONICS) and Taiwan International AIoT Exhibition (AIoT Taiwan) opened grandly at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center on October 23, 2024. The three-day event has attracted global technology leaders and innovative companies, showcasing the latest advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

Jointly organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (TEEMA), this year's exhibition is themed "AInnovation Now," focusing on four key areas: "AI and IoT Applications," "Low-Earth Orbit Satellites," "Startup Power," and "Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs)." The exhibition, the largest in its history, has attracted major companies such as Thunder Tiger Corporation and Geosat Aerospace & Technology, which are showcasing their UAV technologies. Additionally, the "Big Bang Startup Zone" highlights 13 startups from eight countries, showcasing cutting-edge AI and IoT solutions.

During the three-day exhibition, numerous distinguished guests and international technology pioneers took the stage to deliver speeches. Among them, Young Liu, Chairman & CEO of Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn) and Convener of the Supervisory Board of TEEMA, served as the sole keynote speaker at the welcome luncheon. He delivered a speech on artificial intelligence, advocating for the significance of AI in Taiwan's development. The event coincided with the establishment of the AIIA Alliance, marking a joint celebration of the 50th anniversary of TAITRONICS.

Young Liu, Chairman & CEO of Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn): "Opportunities and Challenges for Taiwan to Become a Global AI Hub"

Chairman Young Liu shared insights on Taiwan's demand for computing power and opportunities, emphasizing the associated energy challenges. He noted that AI development is divided into five levels, with chatbots already realized and human-like reasoning agents on the horizon. He mentioned the phrase "computing power is national power," asserting that computing power is a scarce resource with stable market demand, trending towards "the faster, the better." Currently, we are in the AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) phase, which holds significant future potential, but adequate energy support is crucial—this is a major challenge facing Taiwan.

AIIA Innovation Alliance Heralds a New Era of AI in Taiwan

Another major highlight of the exhibition was the official establishment of the AIIA Alliance, which took place on the same day as the 50th anniversary of TAITRONICS. Dr. Jyuo-Min Shyu, President of the AIIA Alliance, announced that the alliance is a collaborative effort of eight industry associations, including AITA, CIAT, CISA, IBMI, ICAA, PIDA, TAICS, and TEEMA. The alliance is dedicated to promoting AI technological innovation and applications in Taiwan. Taiwan's leadership in AI and semiconductor technologies serves as a critical foundation for driving the AI revolution. The AIIA Alliance will focus on key areas such as smart manufacturing, healthcare, smart mobility, and smart cities, and will advance AI implementation through four dedicated project groups. Moving forward, we aim to build a robust Taiwanese AI ecosystem, aligning with global efforts to benefit humanity.

Looking Ahead

TEEMA Chairman Richard Lee commented, “The establishment of the AIIA Alliance has created a leading technology platform for Taiwan, facilitating the integration and exchange of AI innovation technologies and driving growth opportunities in industries such as transportation, healthcare, and manufacturing. We look forward to leveraging the Alliance’s efforts to position Taiwan at the forefront of the global tech market and to become a key driver of AI technology applications.”

The Taipei International Electronics Show has become a crucial platform in the global electronics industry, offering attendees the opportunity to explore the latest technological trends. Chairman Young Liu’s insightful speech, along with the establishment of the AIIA Alliance, has undoubtedly injected powerful technological innovation into this year’s event, solidifying Taiwan's position in the global AI technology application landscape.

The exhibition will conclude on October 25, providing attendees with the chance to explore the latest AI and IoT applications and engage in in-depth discussions with professionals from around the world.
