CHINAPLAS 2024 Returns to Shanghai with a Record-Breaking 4,420 Exhibitors

2024/04/18 | By Andrew Hsu

CHINAPLAS, the world's leading plastics and rubber trade fair, is making a strong comeback to Shanghai after a six-year hiatus. The event is scheduled to take place from April 23 to 26, 2024, at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Hongqiao, Shanghai, PR China. This year's edition will feature a record-breaking 4,420 exhibitors, marking a notable 12% increase compared to the 2018 Shanghai show.

In China, a transformative phase is underway, characterized by the simultaneous advancement of high-quality imports and high-level exports, which are propelling the development of new productive forces. In 2023, China's export value for its "three new products" - electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries, and solar cells - surpassed RMB 1 trillion, equivalent to USD 141 billion, for the first time, marking an impressive nearly 30% increase. The strategy of "going overseas" has become pivotal for Chinese enterprises seeking global expansion.

Zooming out to Asia, despite the global economic recovery's relative sluggishness, the region maintains its growth trajectory, with emerging markets and developing economies in Asia anticipating a 5.40% growth rate in 2023. Driven by factors like costs and the international landscape, numerous companies are hastening their expansion into developing regions such as Southeast Asia and Latin America, capitalizing on opportunities within the evolving global industrial and supply chain dynamics.
